Any garage owner knows that there are certain essentials that your workshop needs in order for you to be able to provide the service that customers expect when they come through the door.
At SN Autohaus, we have some of the most talented and experienced technicians in the Chigwell area, so we think its extremely important to make sure that they have all the tools they require to get the job done.
With that in mind, these are the things that every car workshop needs to have.
A Vehicle Lift
Every workshop, from the smallest through to big dealerships, needs to have a vehicle lift or two. They are one of the most essential pieces of garage equipment available to technicians because they allow them to access areas of a vehicle that would otherwise be extremely difficult to work on. Ideally you will have more than one vehicle lift available to you, but if you only have room for one then make sure it’s one that is going to allow you to service the most common issues that customers come to your garage to get fixed.
Proper Lighting
A dark and dingy workshop is a workshop where mistakes are made. You need to ensure that your garage gets plenty of light, be it natural or man-made. A couple of bulbs isn’t going to be enough, so be sure to invest in some fluorescent lighting so that your technicians can always see what they are doing.
Wall Mounts
There is nothing more annoying than having to dig through every drawer in the workshop just to find the one tool that you need to complete a specific job. Instead of putting yourself through that hassle, your car workshop should have wall mounts installed that allow you to put all of your tools on display. This way you’ll never have to waste time searching and can instead focus on the job that’s at hand.
Diagnostic Equipment
Vehicles have become more complex in recent years, so you need to have high quality diagnostic equipment that will help you get to the root of any issues. This equipment improves your efficiency as a mechanic and allows you to pinpoint issues quickly, without having to spend ages taking the car apart just to find out what the problem is.
Air Compressors
Battery-powered tyre inflators are certainly capable of doing the job, but they can be a massive drain on power that could be better used elsewhere in the garage. A good air compressor still allows you to inflate tyres quickly, without you having to worry about how much juice you’re using and how much is going to be available for your other tools.
A Good Sound System
This is perhaps the only item on the list that doesn’t serve a practical purpose in terms of the work you do on vehicles, but a good sound system will ensure that you always have some good tunes pumping when your technicians get to work. Better yet, it can help cover up the constant noises that are generated by the average car workshop, in addition to breaking up the monotony on slower days.
